We had a busy day full of fun! We woke up and headed to a local place for a beignet breakfast. They weren't quite like Cafe Du Monde's specialty doughnuts, but still pretty good. Next, we headed to the local park and did a little shopping. It was a little cool and windy, but we found a few good deals, so it was worth it!
After a yummy lunch consisting of the best chicken/potato/fruit salads ever, we headed back for nap (which I even took advantage of). Once the kiddos woke up, we headed downtown for the dog parade. It was quite crowded and a little disappointing. I expected more costumes/floats/throws.
Next, we headed home and ordered carry-out from a local seafood restaurant. Who can beat a good shrimp po-boy and gumbo?! YUMMO!!!
We all loaded up and hauled booty to the parade. I must admit, I was really worried that we wouldn't make it. However, we got to see it 3 different times and caught a TON of goodies including multiple necklaces (no, we didn't have to "SHOW" anything to get them), cups, doubloons, stuffed animals, frisbees, footballs, and moon pies! The kids LOVED it!! They were fascinated by the music and awesome floats!
We let the kids stay up WELL past their bedtimes and now we are all exhausted!! We had such a great time, I know that we will start planning next year's trip soon!!
