Clipping Coupons and The Great Houdini

A wonderful friend of mine has started an awesome recipe/saving money blog that I am oh so envious of. I still can not grasp my mind around going to the grocery store and saving over triple of what you pay.
However, this bargain shopper is going to try. I am always so movitated to find bargains on clothing, accessories, etc. I figure-why not food and other essentials?! So, last week, I starting clipping coupons, printing coupons, watching for BOGO deals etc. I was super pumped when I saved over $75 on my buggy FULL of stuff on Saturday (nevermind that almost $125 was spent)....but I have a feeling that this enthusiasm is going to go down fast. Today, I received a notice of needed wipes from LL's daycare. --I have some coupons for that I thought as well as knowing the fact that I saw them on sale in one ad or another in yesterday's paper. So, I head home and dig through my coupons only to find out that all of my baby essential coupons had expired...figured....wasted more on time, energy, and gas than I would have running to Target right after picking LL up.
So, we load back up and head to Target. We weren't in there 2 seconds before LL decides to be a daredevil and stand up in the front section of the cart--are you kidding me--sit your little fanny down! She thinks its a game, so I strap her in (wondering if she can still breathe b/c the straps are so tight). Needless to say, before I was able to finish checking out, she had figured out how to stand back up. At this point while I am trying to put groceries in the cart, pay, hold my wallet, and purse, and try to catch her from jumping out of the cart--I become envious of the fact that an octopus has 8 arms and I don't.
Maybe one day LL will join the Greatest Show on Earth by being the Great Houdini escape artist and make mom proud!

  1. Oh Honey- I am right there with ya. I have been clipping and attempting to organize coupns for over a year. I have read blogs, researched, read and printed my little heart out. Where has it gotten me? Beyond frustrated...I feel like I spend more money when I use coupns than when I don't. I haven't given up yet- but my enthusiasm has dwindled a bit- please let me know if you come up with a good system! I would love to learn what works :)
