This once was a day that was a holiday for me. A day off of school (as well as yesterday). However, 10 years ago I realized that Mardi Gras is a very local holiday.
I remember being in a college course my freshman year of college the Friday before Mardi Gras. I had planned on going home to celebrate Mardi Gras weekend. My professor said " Have fun, see ya on Monday!"...I quickly responded.."What do you mean see you on Monday, don't you mean Wednesday?!"
She laughed at the thought of me thinking that the entire state would honor the Mardi Gras "holiday".
As I sit at work today, I think---wouldn't it be nice to have those 4 day weekends again?! I wish that I was at home fighting for a mere moonpie and some beads right now.

This year wasn't all that fun b/c it was soooo cold! It was in the 20's last night and only reached 42 degrees today. I remember when I thought 42 degrees was cold for the LOW of the day! haha Needless to say, we didn't make it to many parades this weekend- and Robinson still got sick. Go figure!
