Amazed

Amazed is the only word that I can say about my uncle's funeral service yesterday. I was absolutely amazed by the number of people who loved this man. I was amazed at the amount of people who had be impacted one way or another by my uncle. His service was held in a large sanctuary and it was packed. I always knew that my uncle was a Godly man, but I never realized to what degree. He was involved in his church in so many ways as well as so many outreach and volunteer organizations. Once his church decided to grow, he gave them several acres of property worth over $100,000 that he cherished so that their congregation could grow. This was property that he one day had envisioned building a home on and spent so much time out there fishing, building bonfires with the youth group, etc.
So many perfect stories were told yesterday and I realized that there was so much that I had not learned about a man that I had known for my entire life. He always thought about others and always wanted people to know and love the Lord as he had and it was evident even as people talked about some of his last words.
There was not a dry eye in the place as the peacher, his best friend, and one of his brother's told stories about how amazing of a man he was.
Towards the end of the service, his best friend asked any who were willing to stand up and say one word in which described my uncle. It was amazing to see all of the people who stood one by one and said such amazing things about him.
I realize now more than ever, the direction that I need to go with my life and the impact that I want to leave with others. I can only dream that one day I will positively affect at least 1/2 as many lives as my uncle has.

  1. Hi there - we have been thinking about y'all and praying for your family. I'm so glad to hear the service went so well - it sounds like a wonderful tribute to your uncle who influenced so many people's lives for Christ. What a testimony! :) And there's no doubt about your influence as well - it is easy to see Christ in you! Love you!
