Although I have lived in my current city for over 10 years, I have never thought of it as "home". I grew up in a WONDERFUL place, although I never fully appreciated how wonderful it was until I was gone.
Fairhope, Alabama is such a unique little town. I am fairly confident that there are little left like it. It is a place where I was able to ride my bike and walk home from school without my mother giving it a second thought. It is a place where flowers always bloom and art is abundant. There are so many unique little shops and restaurants downtown, in which I must visit every time I go back. It is on the coast of Mobile Bay, and only a VERY short drive from Gulf Shores (and the outlets!)
Oh, how I LOVE my hometown and would give anything for LL to have the opportunity to have a childhood like mine.
We celebrate Mardi Gras and have an amazing Arts and Crafts annual festival!
If you have never visited, you must! I doubt you will leave disappointed! We have FABULOUS hotels nearby too!

ReplyDeleteLOVE Fairhope! I grew up in Birmingham and didn't appreciate it either until I left. I guess you can take the girl out of the south, but not the south out of the girl, hu! We now live in Texas but I long for the deep south! We would live in Fairhope if given the chance, I've always loved it :)

I love Fairhope! I lived in Mobile for 5 years and I always looked for an excuse to go to Fairhope. I would love to move there one day, but for now I am stuck in Birmingham.
