looking back

I started another blog last year, but now that I have this one, I am going to compile some of my posts from over there here.

Oh Baby!! -2/7/08
My hubby and I have just found out that we will be expecting our first child. I hope to use this blog as I experience pregnancy, motherhood, decorating, and shopping for baby!

How we told the parents:
My mom has always said that whenever she becomes a grandmother, she does not want to have a typical "grandmother" name. So being the darling daughter, I ordered a cake that said "Congrats Meemaw and PawPaw". At 10wks they came up for a visit, we went to dinner and had our cake for dessert...they were SO excited --however--Mom declared that she refused to be a "Meemaw"!
Telling the inlaws--We found an adorable children's book called The Gifts of Being Grand about becoming grandparents. We sent it to them and just waited for the call. They were SO excited!
Telling the aunt--I had found a onesie in LA that said "If you think I'm cute, you should see my Aunt"...I wrapped it up and gave it to her during a trip home. It took her several minutes to catch on, but once she did she was SO excited!!

Tears of Joy 2/16/08
This week has been quite the experience for me. The most amazing this happened today. We had our first doctors appointment. Let me just say that I LOVE my doctor. I never thought that I would go to a male OB/GYN, but ended up having no choice during an emergency visit for my miscarriage. I immediately decided to switch doctors. He is so amazing! While I was waiting for him to come into the room today, he peeked his head in and said "YOUR BACK!!!" He was just as excited as dh and I. He then asked if we were pregnant again, which told me that he had not even looked at my chart and just remembered us from the miscarriage. He told me that he had to check on another patient really quickly and would be right back. He then told us how excited he was. Next, he said that he would like for us to have an ultrasound if that was alright with us. I said "Of Course!". We were then sent to the ultrasound office and were able to see the most amazing thing --a HEARTBEAT!!! He was so reassuring that things would hopefully work out for the best this time and that everything looked perfect. Lets keep our prayers flowing and our fingers crossed.

Time Flies!!
I can't believe that I haven't posted since FEb. I promised myself that I would keep this updated, and here it is 8 months later. Just to catch up since my last post, the morning sickness did hit hard for the next 10+ weeks. I was sick every morning, afternoon, and night as well as occasionally at work. I lived on Sprite, gatorade, sweet tea, popcorn, and saltines.I remember the day that I thought my morning sickness was over. I had waffles and orange juice for breakfast and was so excited to finally have my appetite back, that I ran to the grocery store for lunch and snack food. Well, as soon as I got back into my car, I grabbed one of the grocery bags and was sick again---oh the joy!! (The sickness liked to surprise me on random days throughout the pregnancy--thank goodness its over!)
In May, we scheduled the "big" ultrasound. I did not want to know what we were having, but dh (dear husband) talked me into it. I will never forget the moment that the nurse turned the monitor toward us and said "It's a girl!!". I started feeling tears trickle down the sides of my face, no matter how hard I tried to hold them back. (Up until birth I still had my fears that our "girl" would end up being a boy and it didn't help w/ people telling me horror stories about this really happening and how I looked as though I was having a boy.We had several friends and family members throw us showers in the summer/early fall months. They were filled with all of the little pink outfits that you can imagine and all of the essentials--we were SO blessed and shocked that everyone was so generous and was as excited as well were (well almost) about the upcoming arrival of our little one.
Telling the parents: The day of the big ultrasound was also Aunt's graduation from HS. We went down that day and wrapped up a pink daygown for her graduation gift. She opened it (w/ all of the fam watching) and was SO excited!! (As was everyone else of course!)
Telling the inlaws: We went up for a visit and took the video/pics. It was fun watching them trying to figure out what things were, but they were SO excited once we told them that it was a girl!
Although we what we would name her, we decided to keep her name a secret until after she was born...the only clue...the initials are ACL!
